Skoda Kodiaq Makes Come Back To India
Skoda Auto India, the Indian alliance of the Czech carmaker Skoda, has re-launched the updated Kodiaq SUV in the Indian car market. The Kodiaq 2022 is launched with a price tag of Rs 34.99 lakh for the entry-level Style trim and goes high up to Rs 37.49 lakh for the top-end L&K trim. Both the prices are ex-showroom prices in India. The carmaker had discontinued the SUV back in April 2020 due to the implementation of BS-VI emission norms.
Under the hood, the new Kodiaq receives the powertrain of a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder TSI turbo-petrol engine outsourced from Octavia and Superb. The engine churns the power of 190 hp and the torque of 320Nm. The transmission duties are performed by a seven-speed automatic gearbox. All the trims have an all-wheel driving system as a standard feature. In its new avatar, the Skoda Kodiaq is available only in a petrol variant the company has discontinued the diesel variant.
Speaking about the looks of Kodia 2022, on the exterior front it receives an elevated bonnet, updated headlights with LED DRLs, and a slightly changed front bumper. The side profile remains unchanged except for the integration of new alloy wheels. On the rear front, it receives new taillights and a new slightly changed rear bumper. The other things remain unchanged.
Inside the cabin, the receives heated and cooled front seats, a wireless charging pad, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 12-speaker Canton sound system, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, rear parking sensors, hands-free parking, nine airbags, ad a three-zone automatic climate control system.
As far as its rivals are concerned in the Indian car market, at present, there is no direct competitor in the market, except the Jeep Meridian, which will be launched sometime during the second half of this year.
