The Generation-Next Hyundai i20 Launched, Priced Rs. 6.80 Lakh
Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) has finally launched the next generation of i20 hatchback in the Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 6.80 lakh (ex-showroom price). In its new avatar, the i20 receives the new K Platform with long and wider dimensions along with long wheelbase. It is offered with two engine options in a petrol variant, and one engine option in the diesel variant. There will be four trims in all three engine options namely Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O). The prices offered on all these trims are introductory prices and will be changed with effect from January 1, 2021.

To begin with, engine options there will be two engine options in the petrol variant. The first one will a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine, whereas the other will be a 1.0-litre turbo engine. The diesel variant will be equipped with a 1.5-litre engine. The trims empowered with 1.2-litre petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine will have the manual gear transmission system. The 1.0-litre turbo engine will be mated with an intelligent manual transmission system. The petrol engine will also be offered with an automatic transmission system. The petrol trim with a 1.2-litre engine will be mated with a CVT transmission system, while the 1.0-litre engine with a seven-speed DCT transmission system.
Speaking about the design of the new Hyundai i20, according to the company sources it has been developed with key-elements – proportion, architecture, design, and technology in concern. The front fascia receives the glossy black honeycomb grille with sweptback headlamps, followed by a muscular bonnet and LED DRLs mounted on it. On the rear portion, the black element from the C-Pillar has been moved, which makes the rear look more attractive. Moving ahead, the Z-shaped LED tail lights play an incredible role in making the hatchback look different from others, and easily recognizable. With all these elements the large rear windshield adds additional spice to the rear looks.

Inside the cabin, it receives lots of updates in form of dual-tone colour scheme, the leatherette upholstery, digital instrument cluster, TFT screen. The touchscreen has been placed above the air-conditioner vents. It also receives wireless charging system followed by a plethora of switches and sockets for various functions integrated on the central console. The list of additional features includes rear air conditioner vents, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, climate control, sunroof, and many more. All these features are offered for the first time in any of the vehicles in the segment.
