Toyota Etios and Etios Liva Diesel features & specs

The specifications of the upcoming diesel versions of the entry level sedan Etios and compact hatchback Toyota Etios Liva have been revealed. The Indian unit of the leading Japanese car maker Toyota announced on Thursday that diesel versions both Etios sedan and Liva hatchback will be powered with a 1.4L D-4D engine. The fuel efficient diesel engine will be delivering a peak power of 67 bhp @ 3,800 rpm along with a top torque of 170 Nm.

The diesel-run Etios series of cars will be hosting a smaller version of turbocharger used in the Toyota Corolla Altis model. The Etios diesel will be launched in three variants in the country including Etios GD, Etios VD and the top of the line Etios VXD. While GD variant will be carrying 14’’ wheels, the VD and VXD model will be blessed with 15’’alloy wheels. Moreover, all variants will be carrying electric power steering as a standard feature. Interestingly, the premium safety features like ABS (antilock breaking system) and airbags will be offered as an option with base variant GD.

Besides the engine and a few exterior features, all the features of new diesel versions of Etios series will be exactly same as available in their petrol counter parts. Though the company is yet to announce the pricing details of these cars, it is expected that diesel versions will be about Rs 80,000 costlier as compared to their respective petrol counter parts.

The petrol version of Etios sedan was launched in the Indian market in December 2010, while the Liva hatchback was debuted in the Indian market in June 2011. The availability of these cars in both petrol and diesel versions will certainly boost the competitiveness of Etios series in the Indian market.
