Toyota refrain from launching Etios CS and Etios Liva based Crossover

The existing slowness in the market seems to dampen the future plans of a lot of car makers. In the recent month, it was after the immense success of the Toyota Etios Series – Toyota Etios sedan and Toyota Etios Liva that there were some over enthusiastic claims that this Japanese car giant will be launching the Etios compact sedan and a crossover based on Etios Liva. If this would have materialized, the Etios CS would have given a straight fight to Maruti Swift Dzire and Tata Indigo eCS while the Etios Liva crossover would have badly impacted sales of Renault Duster and Mahindra Quanto. Alas!, all this remained to a mere guesswork as recent reports confirm that Toyota will not be launching any such new cars based on these two.

The reason behind this is unknown but it is said that it is only and only due to the slowness in demand in the industry that desists the car maker from launching these two hoped-to-be instant successes. Notably, the other factor that may be behind this lack of willingness to launch the two new Toyota cars could be that recently these two cars have not performed well and Toyota could not put any good numbers in the last month last year. The resistance from launching new cars is following no car launch till 2015 strategy that the car maker has adopted.

Other factors that could resist almost all the car maker from launching new cars in India are high fuel prices, no decision on the diesel regulation and the prevailing high interest rates. Meanwhile, like Fiat that has also decided to strengthen the sales of its two cars Fiat Linea and Fiat Punto, Toyota will also be strengthening the sales of these cars in India. The car maker though will also be launching the new versions of some of its popular cars in India.
