Volkswagen not launching new Diesel Polo until 2014

Here comes the sad news for Volkswagen Polo lovers. The news is now official; Volkswagen has announced that they won’t be launching the 4-cylinder diesel version of Volkswagen Polo until 2014. The German automaker is working on a next generation model of Volkswagen Polo, and it will be launched in the foreign markets by next year. Though, the same model will see dawn in the Indian market, until a year later. The new model of Volkswagen Polo, which will be the 7th generation version of the hatchback, is being designed for several improvements, mainly in the cabin space department.

Currently, Volkswagen Polo is powered by a 1.2L 3-cylinder Petrol engine, and it is a nice and powerful engine with nice fuel efficiency. However, the other version is powered by a 1.6L, 4-cylinder Petrol engine. But, the diesel version of Volkswagen Polo is not as good as other diesel hatchbacks. And, the announcement from Volkswagen’s officials has further disappointed potential buyers and stakeholders. People will have to wait for two more years, as the company has made clear that there will no upgrade in the hatchback this year. As per some sources, the 7th generation model of Volkswagen Polo, which will be launched in 2014, will be powered by a 1.3 or 1.4L 4-cylinder diesel engine. It will be priced more than the current diesel version, though.   

No doubt, the new model will be a better car in every respect, but waiting for two more years to get our hands on it, seems like a real big deal. On the Indian shores, Volkswagen Polo is the entry-level product for the car maker and the auto-giant has planned to launch other enticing products in coming two years that include - Volkswagen Up, Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Tiguan.
