Audi A3 upgraded with 1.0 litre petrol engine
Audi A3 the best selling sedan from German luxurious car maker has undergone mid-life facelift and is now equipped with range of new petrol engines along with virtual digital cockpit replacing the conventional instrument cluster. The upgraded version is going to be launched sometimes during next month in European car market. An interesting feature of the changes offered in facelift is that now the buyers can change this sedan into five door hatchback and also in two door convertible depending upon their requirement without paying any extra amount for it.
Mechanically the upgraded A3 receives 1.0 litre, three cylinder, turbocharged direct-injection engine, thus minimizing the weight of sedan up-to 1,150 kg. Apart from it also receives front wheel drive option and will be priced around €23,300 in German car market. The engine has been carried from Volkswagen Group and generates the power of 85 Kw and torque of 200 Nm. The standard version is also upgraded with new 1998cc four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine supported with both direct and indirect fuel injection system. This engine generates the power of 140K W and torque of 320Nm and is offered with all wheel drive option and mated with seven speed dual clutch transmission system. Apart from this the petrol trim also has option of turbocharged 1.4 litre four cylinder engine that churns the power of 110Kw and torque of 250Nm. When car is driven at normal speed without requiring additional power the set of engines installed in middle stop working. The diesel variant has option of two engine 1.6 litre fouir cylinder TDI and 2.0 litre TDI boosting the power and torque of 81Kw/ 340Nm and 135kW/380Nm respectively.
Talking about the physical changes it receives single framed grille at front fascia, narrow shaped headlights with option of Matrix LED powered headlights, and flat rear portion. Talking about the virtual cockpit it has been customised with refreshed 12.3 inch TFT screen, where it’s existing standard 7 inch retractable multimedia screen as offered in current Audi A3 now receives the option of navigation or navigation plus which offers connectivity with Google Earth and Google Streetview along with bunch of various other information. On the safety front it receives enhanced lane assist and pre safe braking system, cross traffic warning from the parking sensors while parking car at parking which are not properly visible. Apart with this it is also offered with option of emergency assist brake packages, and refreshed adaptive cruise control system to offer improved performance.
