Bookings of Jeep Compass Commenced by Fiat Chrysler India
Fiat Chrysler India, the Indian alliance of Italian car maker Fiat has commenced the bookings of its first ever SUV Jeep Compass at the down payment of Rs. 50,000 through its official web or by visiting the nearest dealer. The SUV will be produced at company’s Ranjangaon production unit near Pune and will be the first vehicle to be rolled out by FCA India from this facility. It will be offered in three trims namely Sport, Longitue and Limited (the top variant) followed by five color options of Exotica Red, Hip Hop Black, Minimal Grey, Vocal White and Exotica Red with driving option of 4x2 and 4x4. According to the sources of company the production of Jeep Compass at Ranjangaon facility is the result of 23 months hard work.
Mechanically it would offered in both petrol and diesel variants empowered with 1.4 litre 4 cylinder turbocharged petrol and 2 litre 4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol variant is reported to generate the power of 160 bhp and torque of 260 Nm, while the diesel is reported to boost the power of 170 bhp and torque of 350 Nm. The transmission duties are reported to be performed by six speed manual along with an option of seven speed automatic gearbox. As far as price of this SUV is concerned nothing has been so far revealed by the Italian car maker, but it speculated to be priced in the range of Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh.
Announcing the opening of bookings, Kevin Flynn, President and Managing Director, FCA India said, "We are already receiving overwhelming response to our new SUV. We have pulled out all stops to deliver the highest quality standard on the Jeep Compass and we are here to set a benchmark in the Indian SUV space. Customers will experience first-hand, the level of sophistication in the vehicle."
According to reports with an objective to offer improved customer service experience the car maker is also going to introduce MOPAR which would be company’s exclusive store providing genuine parts and accessories.
