Chevrolet Sail Ev spied in China

Three Chevrolet cars are making news for quite some time now and these are – Chevrolet Sail hatchback, Chevrolet Sail sedan and the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV. As per the information update regarding the Sail car is that its Electric car version has been spied in un camouflaged state in China. Also the car lacks the Chevrolet bowtie badging and has ‘S’ instead at the front. This is quite unsual as SAIL has a joint venture with GM cars. May be Sail is thinking of rolling out the EV Sail car independently but the chances of this far guess to be true are meek.

As per the update, SAIL has developed the Sail EV at the technical centre in Shanghai that is jointly owned by GM and Sail. The Chevrolet Sail that is soon to enter India was also developed at this centre however, the customization and localization of the Sail is on at the GM plant in India. Meanwhile, the Electric car Sail EV will be making public appearance at the upcoming Guangzhou Auto Show which is scheduled in November this year. As far as the Chevrolet Sail EV price is concerned it is expected that the car maker will be pricing it very less as there is huge subsidy on electric cars and the EV qualifies for such subsidies. It seems that post a successful launch in China, the car maker could thing of an India launch as well. And if the car maker is able to price it well in the country, it will be the hot favorite of car buyers who are pitched of by the ever rising petrol and diesel prices.

The exact specification and details regarding the EV are still unknown as the car maker has not yet released any information but it is believed that it will have 87 hp motor that will give the car a top speed of 130 kmph and a run of 150 km per charge. The other features will be like use of ultra light materials inside and no embellishments on the outside that increase the weight of the car.
