Chevrolet Sail launched in India at starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh
The second Sail brand car by Chevrolet has finally arrived in India. In fact, the Chevrolet Sail sedan launch was the most anticipated launch that has lingered on from last year. Igniting the anticipation further, the car maker has launched the Sail sedan at a price starting at Rs 4.99 lakh for the entry level petrol model while diesel model starting price is Rs 6.29 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi price). Notably, the Sail sedan is the second in series of the Sail cars in India. The first car being Chevrolet Sail UVA that has rocked its segment and has given a tough fight to Maruti Swift and other segment players including Ford Figo. It is believed that since the new sedan by Chevrolet has been priced well, it will have instant sales boost and it will also give a considerable threat to Maruti Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios and Tata Manza.

General Motors has though failed to perform well even after the launch of the Sail UVA hatchback but it is now believed that it will recoup all the loss it had in 2012 with that of this sedan. Since the segment is getting hot and hotter with sedans becoming more affordable priced, the prospects of this new Chevrolet car are high. In all, it will be the entry level sedan by the car maker. Now the Indian car market has five hatchback- sedan such pair. Volkswagen Polo – Volkswagen Vento, Tata Indica – Tata Indigo, Maruti Swift – Maruti Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios Liva – Toyota Etios and now Chevrolet Sail UVA – Chevrolet Sail sedan.
Offered in petrol and diesel models, the Sail sedan’s diesel motor powered model is all set to be a hit. The petrol models have 1.2 L engine while the diesel versions have 1.3 L engine under the hood. The petrol engine Sail mileage is 18.2 kmpl and 22.1 kmpl for the diesel trim. But there are some features that will push this car further and these are speed sensitive door locks, ABS, EBD, Airbags and crumple zones besides other safety features.
