Chevrolet Sail spied again, launch in July-Aug
American car maker Chevrolet seems to be in a hurry to launch Chevrolet Sail in India. It was spied recently and it has just been spied again. As per the spied images, Chevrolet Sail sedan will precede the hatchback. The test mule thus spotted in Pune reveals that the sedan is almost ready for production and will hit the showrooms right after its launch in India. Sourced from Chevrolet’s China partner SIAC, the Sail will be entering India in two body styles – hatchback and sedan. The Chevrolet Sail price in India for the hatchback version is expected to be around Rs 5.5 lakh while the Sail sedan is expected to be priced at Rs 6 lakh. The Sail sedan launch should be sooner than later.

Developed in a car platform that has been reportedly made specifically for India and China, the SAIC sourced Sail has great many resemblance with that of Chevrolet cars. A dual port grille and the Chevrolet badge resting at the centre of the grille makes it resemble with any of the Chevrolet car. The Chevrolet Sail interiors will be of beige color and will be adorned with premium stuff inside. However, just like the Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet will be trying to keep the price to a bare minimum in order to enable the Sail sedan and hatchback take the market by storm.

The engine department of the Sail sedan will be taken care of by a 1.2 L petrol engine which also powers Chevrolet’s best selling hatch Beat. The engine is expected to be tuned to 85 bhp. A Fiat sourced 1.3 L multijet engine is expected to power the Sail diesel sedan and hatchback. A 1.4 L more powerful petrol engine could also be in the offing. A 2012 end launch is what is expected. However, very frequent testing suggests that the car will be launched soon may be in July. With the Sail sedan in, Chevrolet Aveo that has since been struggling to put up some activity on the sales chart will be discontinued.
