Chevrolet Sail U-VA in July!

General Motors is expected to launch Chevrolet Sail in July in the Indian market. The Sail U-VA would be the hatchback version of the Sail that will be produced by the American Automaker, General Motors. Sail U-VA would be powered by a multijet 1.3-litre diesel engine. Besides, Chevrolet Cruze with a new Z Series engine has hit the showrooms as the company launched the vehicle in India on Wednesday.

The sources said that General Motor’s Chinese partner SAIC has developed Sail U-VA. It is more like a Chinese vehicle as it has been developed by SAIC. Design of Sail U-VA could be problem for General Motors as it looks outdated but the company is planning to sale large volume of Sail U-VA in the Indian market by introducing with aggressive pricing. The demand of diesel vehicles has increased in India; Sail U-VA could achieve success. Its 1.3-litre diesel engine generates 74 BHP of peak power and 190 Nm of peak torque. The mileage of the hatchback would be 17 kmpl. Apart from diesel engine, Sail U-VA would be launched with petrol engine too. The petrol Sail U-VA would be powered by 1.2-litre engine which generates 82 BHP and 108 Nm of torque. The mileage of the vehicle would be 17 kmpl.

General Motors is planning to replace Aveo with Sail. Soon, Aveo would be pulled off the Indian market. General Motors has stopped production of Aveo in India. Now, it would take around 6-8 months for Sail to fill the vacant space created by Aveo. Sources said that Aveo has failed miserably in the Indian market. The demand of Aveo was very less because it does not have diesel option. Now, General Motors expects that it would capture a big share in the competitive B and C segment market. It would be seen that the Chinese vehicle would become successful in the Indian market or not.

Apart from Chevrolet Sail hatchback, the company is also planning to launch a MPV in India christened Chevrolet Enjoy. The MPV was also displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo, in New Delhi in the month of January. The Auto Expo witnessed an array of MPVs and SUVs, most of which will be launched this year only.
