Force launches Gurkha SUV at Rs 6.25 lakh

It is after overwhelming response to its SUV Force One that Force Motors India has launched its second SUV Force Gurkha today. The SUV though not new to India is the second generation of it after it was discontinued by the car maker. The Gurkha price starts at Rs 6.25 lakh for the entry-level variant while the top model that comes with hard top and 4WD has a price tag of Rs 8.50 lakh. The car maker has launched three variants of the SUV and all these belong to the BS3 norms. The best part of the SUV like the Force One is that it is powered by a highly dependable 2.6 L Mercedes Benz sourced diesel engine. This means that the Gurkha will have an India body with German heart. Not only the 81 bhp motor under the hood of Gurkha will make it quite attractive in the segment and will give it an upper hand as compared to Mahindra Thar.

Auto industry experts believe that the entry-level SUV market is currently in the hold of Mahindra Thar, Mahindra Quanto and Maruti Gypsy. But after the arrival of this Force car, it is highly anticipated that it will taken over by it but severe resistance is expected by Thar and Quanto while winning Gypsy will be an easier thing. Gypsy being offered only in petrol engine options is already suffering much damage in the personal car segment. The Gurkha SUV being a diesel only car suits to the needs of the car buyers of this price segment as he is too conscious about the average running cost of the car. With the Mercedes engine under the hood, people can be sure that the car will have long life and the car will have low maintenance.

Meanwhile, the SUV has improved itself in terms of style as compared to the earlier generation. The changes seen on it include new headlamps, much finished contours, new grille and all newly designed roof rails giving the car an entirely new look.
