For Ford India, it seems that India bound Ford Ecosport will be doing some wonder to the American car giant after Ford Figo and Ford Fiesta. Anticipation and fumbling for spy shots, Ford Ecosport pictures, has already begun in the auto industry and everybody is after getting a pre unveil glimpse of the mini SUV before it is actually unveiled at the Auto Expo 2012. Besides its looks and features, Ford Ecosport price will also be deciding how the new mini SUV by Ford performs in India on the sales chart.

Ford will be officially unveiling the compact SUV Ford Ecosport in India at the Auto Expo 2012 and will be making the announcement about it on January 4, 2012. The Ford Ecosport is expected to be available in diesel and petrol variants. A 1L petrol engine will be powering the Ford Ecosport Petrol, a 1.5L engine, the same that powers the Ford Fiesta diesel will be there in the Ford Ecosport Diesel. Besides, the Ecosport will be taking advantages of the tax cut as it is an under four meter SUV.


It would be quite wrong to compare Ford Fiesta entirely with Ford Ecosport but it can be comfortably said that it draws greater similarity with its sedan sibling. Experts have though sketched Ford Ecosport to have striking similarity with the Fiesta pertaining to its resemblance due to sharing of Kinetic design. However, there are some unique features characteristic of the Ecosport including Voice controls, Duratorq, powershift and the engine technology Ecoboost.

Having said this, it is sure that with the entry of Ford Ecosport, the war of compact SUVs in India will be triggered. The stage that has still been set by Premier Rio will soon be taken over by many contenders including the compact version of Mahindra Xylo christened as Mahindra Xylo Mini and quite a handful others. Mahindra Xylo is also expected to have a 4WD version soon.
