One can easily predict after inspecting the patent sketches that this compact crossover would surely be a mini avatar of Chevrolet Captiva and the company must be projecting to hike sales with its launch in the developing markets like India. There is a lot of enthusiasm in the buyers for the SUVs, mainly due to the latest upcoming crossovers like Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. With heartthrob excitements in the enthusiasts for the SUVs, GM too would like to expand its crossover segment in the domestic auto-market.

It is said the company would bring in this machine in both 2WD and 4WD options. It is likely that this compact SUV from Chevrolet would be built on the same platform of Opel Mokka that is named as the Buick Encore for the North American sub-continent. It is speculated that this mini crossover would be powered by 1.4-litre petrol engine for the Indian markets and could have similar engine as the Sail sedan. While, the diesel engine of this SUV is expected to be the same 1.3 liter Fiat Multi-jet engine of upcoming MPV Enjoy. As far as the price is concerned, you can expect it to come at the cost of less than Rs. 10 lakh.

This Chevrolet compact crossover is expected to have seating capacity for four passengers and its length may measure less than 4.3 mts. The survival of Chevrolet compact crossover would not be that easy in India, because when GM would launch it on the Indian shores, it would have rivals like Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster and Mahindra Mini Xylo running on streets. And even, Maruti may also unveil its compact crossover XA Alpha.
