General Motors eyes Diwali to trigger growth with Sail and Enjoy

A large number of car makers including Maruti India are hoping to get their required boost in sales this festive season. The reason behind this longing is that most of the car makers faced chilling winters, scorching heat and thunderous rains but not car buyers. Factors that have desisted car buyers from entering showrooms are many and no single one can be held responsible for it. On the other hand, some car makers had their own issues. For example, Maruti had to fight with the recent lockout and the production outage of Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire. Meanwhile, there is another car maker that has also been the victim of bad weather that is blowing with full force in India. And it is General Motors.

After the petrol price hike two of its popular cars Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Beat petrol faced a major blow. However, the Beat Diesel did some damage control and made it possible for the car maker to show up some numbers. The Chevrolet Tavera sales too took a downslide due to the launch of Maruti Ertiga and the new Innova. However, the Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 did some good job in the beginning. Another car that tried to keep the ball rolling is the Chevrolet Cruze that recently took a new avatar. Now that the festive season is round the corner and the two Chevrolet Sail offerings are nearing launch, the car maker hopes to get the lost sheen back.

The Chevrolet Sail UVA will be competing with the likes of Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Skoda Fabia and others while the Chevrolet Sail sedan will take on Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo and other entry level sedans in India. Meanwhile, one more offering is all set to rock the Indian car market from the American fleet and that is Chevrolet Enjoy MPV. All equipped to rival Ertiga and Innova, the Enjoy MPV has the genes to give thrust to the brand and put up some decent numbers on the sales chart.
