Honda Brio Automatic coming on 18th October
The Indian unit of the Japanese auto giant Honda Motors is all set to add an automatic transmission version in the line-up of their popular compact hatchback Brio. The all new Honda Brio automatic will be launched on 18th October, which is falling in the starting week of this Diwali festive season. Since its debut in India, the Brio hatchback has been a flagship portfolio model of the company. And now, with the addition of new automatic variant, the company is looking forward to boost their customer base.
Being more driver friendly, the automatic transmission versions are more preferred among the elderly persons and females as it causes less driving fatigue and requires less effort while driving in bumper to bumper city traffic conditions. Still, the auto transmission cars are comparatively less popular in the Indian market due to their high price tag. At present, very few compact hatchbacks in India are available in the automatic transmission versions including the likes of Maruti A-Star and Hyundai i10.

While the company has kept the specifications and pricing details of the car under cover, it has been speculated that the new Brio AT will come powered by the same 1.2L i-VTEC engine which delivers a peak power of 87 bhp along with a peak torque of 110 Nm. The price of new auto transmission Brio is expected to be substantially higher when compared to the existing manual transmission version.

Moreover, the fuel economy of the new Brio AT will be a concern, as the automatic version generally delivers comparatively lesser fuel economy; however, the company may come-up with an equally efficient engine in terms of mileage with the help of advanced technologies. The current model of Brio delivers a mileage of 18.4 km per liter.
It is also remains to be seen that which variants of the car get an auto transmission among the currently available four variants including Brio E, S, S (Optional) and V. The chances are that the higher variant of the car will be rolled-out in automatic version as buyers of automatic cars prefer their cars to be fully loaded.
