Honda Brio Diesel test mule spotted, launch this Diwali

Honda has definitely taken lessons by the current slide in petrol car sales and is no doubt hurrying up things to launch its diesel car line up including Honda Brio Diesel and Honda City Diesel. A test mule of Brio Diesel was recently caught in Northern India and it appeared that the diesel Brio sounded like the petrol one. Honda no doubt has the most improved engine technology and its petrol engines are some of the best engines in the world. The diesel ones are too in the race. It seems that Honda will debut its diesel cars journey in India with the diesel Honda Brio and will be later launching the City Diesel, Jazz Diesel and Civic Diesel. The Diesel Honda Brio price is expected to be over Rs 70,000 higher than the current price of Rs 3.99 lakh and it is heading for a near Diwali launch.

The Brio test vehicle is assumed to be a diesel run car as there was no iVTEC badge on the car. Besides, the Brio is in no position to get a facelift so soon. Thus it is in all probability be the diesel Brio that was on test run. As per the information available, the diesel Brio will be powered by 1.2 L iDTEC engine which will have an overall mileage delivery of around 24 - 25 kmpl. As per various sources information, the Brio Diesel will be using the downgraded 1.6 L EarthDreams engine that has four cylinder and it produces 120 bhp and a peak torque of 300 Nm. With this, the Brio Diesel will be the most powerful hatchback leaving behind Fiat Punto Sport and Maruti Swift. However, auto industry experts believe that Honda will be tuning the engine to somewhat 95 – 100 bhp that will be sufficient power for this diesel hatchback.
