Honda denies launching Brio in Brazil
Honda’s new entrant in the small car segment has been able to fetch good number of sales in India until now. Despite the fact that the car’s diesel variant is yet to arrive and we do not even know when that will be materialized, the hatchback has still carved a niche for itself in the small car segment. Indian auto market was abuzz with the rumours of Brio being shipped to the Brazilian market. Putting all speculations to rest, one of the Honda officials stated that Brio is a car made explicitly for Asian market and the company has no plans to launch it in Brazil. He further explained that, if the car is introduced in Brazil, it would cost way too high, because of which it could be a dud seller.

However, there are many cars which are present in Indian and other Asian markets and are also a part of the Brazilian car market too. Some of the cars present in India and in Brazil too are Fiat Grande Punto and Fiat Linea. Another upcoming car which will be launched in both Indian and Brazilian car markets is the Ford EcoSport SUV. Therefore the reasoning behind not introducing the Honda Brio hatchback in Brazil seems a little fishy, or we could say that maybe it has something to do with the petite size of the car.

Usually the cars present in Brazilian auto market have large dimensions measuring around 5 feet and 7 inches which is definitely higher than the average height of the cars present in Asian market which lies inthe range of 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches. Therefore Brio’s diminutive dimensions could be one of the reasons as to why it is not being launched in Brazil. The hatchback has been able to register its name amongst the top selling cars in India and if the diesel variant is launched too, there would no looking back for this hatchback.
