Honda diesel cars launch to start early next year

No wonder that you will see Maruti Alto diesel, Honda Brio diesel or even Tata Nano diesel on roads in the next few months. When petrol is on fire, it is the right time to step up diesel car production in India. And this is the mantra that car makers are reciting these days. Honda specially and Maruti as well have large number of petrol cars and these will be pumping resources into research and development to come out with the diesel car models soon. It is expected that Honda will launch its first diesel car early next year. It is expected to be Honda Brio diesel followed by Honda Brio diesel sedan and Honda City diesel sedan later in 2013.

Honda has been synonymous with petrol cars and in India as well, the Japanese car maker sells petrol only models such as Honda Brio small car, Honda City, Honda Civic, Honda Jazz, Honda Accord and Honda CR V SUV, that too in petrol. Auto industry experts believe that Honda could have launched diesel models of its cars earlier and it has taken too long to bring the Honda diesel cars to India. Notably, Honda has its diesel models available in selected other parts of the globe where it is sold and launching Honda diesel cars would not have been an uphill task for the Japanese car giant.

Honda Jazz which is a much bigger hatchback car is also expected to cherish a new diesel heart but not sooner than early 2014. In order to keep the price of diesel Honda cars down, the car maker will be putting in only the 1.5 L and 1.2 L engine options inside its cars. However, there is no official word has come out of Honda yet but these assumptions could come out to be more than reality. Notably, with the rise in petrol prices, Honda has been experiencing a downslide in petrol prices since last many years and last fiscal it sold around 9 percent less car than 2010-11.
