Honda forecasts triple profits this year, Brio diesel could help achieve it

Year 2011 has been year of natural calamities and other untoward incidents for the auto industry worldwide and India specially. Japanese car makers Honda, Toyota and Nissan in India were majorly affected due to the natural disasters in Japan. However, with the recent improvements, Honda has been able to come out of the slump and as per the forecast; it could triple its profits this year. Credit goes to Honda Brio and Honda City in India that has been very profitable for the car maker. Besides, improvement in sales in US has also helped the Japanese car maker to add some extra figures of profit chart.

Last year Honda had to declare production outages due to the lack of supply of parts from its Japanese counterpart and thus the waiting periods of City sedan and other cars rose, leading to cancellations of bookings; it was nothing less than a quagmire. In late 2011, things improved and with the Honda Brio small car launch, Honda was able to put things gradually back on track in India. Worldwide as well, things streamlined and deliveries resumed, sales came back on track.

Now that the things are normal, Honda is all set to launch Honda diesel cars in India including Honda jazz diesel, Honda City Diesel and the diesel variants of other Honda car models. The launch of diesel Honda cars will step up its prospects in every segment – hatchback, sedan, SUV and will help it gain volumes. Availability of only petrol variants is one of the things that have been a prime impediment in the Honda car sales in the country. It is also quite probable that Honda will launch the Brio Diesel this year. If this happens, believe it nor not, it will be selling like hotcakes as India eagerly awaits a viable small diesel car offering and Brio has the looks, brand value and features to fill the vacuum.
