Honda registers 57 per cent growth in 2012, new cars on card
The Japanese auto maker has posted a growth of 57 per cent in sales from April 2012 to December 2012 on a Year-on-Year basis. Between this period the company managed to sell around 51,478 units which are way more than the 32,771 units sold in the same time in the year 2011. In December 2012 only, the company sold close to 4,242 cars and registered a growth of 296 per cent as compared to the same period in previous year.

Honda’s small and popular hatchback Honda Brio accounted for 2,286 units while the old player, Honda City sedan registered sales of 1,442 units, 365 units of Honda Jazz were sold, Honda Accord on the other hand could account for just 79 units while only 70 units of Honda Civic were sold in December 2012.

Honda is now planning to launch a sub-four meter sedan christened Honda Amaze in India which will be conceived on Honda Brio hatchback. The launch of the sedan is likely by the year 2013, this will be the first ever diesel powered sedan by the Japanese car maker in India. Apart from Amaze, the company is also mulling over the development of Honda City diesel along with Honda Jazz diesel and Honda Brio diesel. The two hatchbacks will be powered with the 1.5 litre diesel engine which could also feature in Honda Amaze diesel.
