Hyundai i20 facelift bags five-star EuroNCAP rating

Facelifted version of Hyundai i20 mesmerized the car lovers with its looks, now it has added another feather to its cap. The facelifted version of the Hyundai i20 has bagged a five-star EuroNCAP rating award in the latest safety tests. EuroNCAP, which consists seven European Governments and motoring and consumer organizations, crash tests vehicles to analyze its safety performance. It grades the vehicles after the test in terms of stars. The industry sources said the EuroNCAP assess the cars safety independently and make aware the consumers about the safety norms in the car. Facelifted version of Hyundai i20 has become successful in the test.

The media reports suggest that the EuroNCAP test the safety of the car in head-on collision situation. There was an adult dummy inside the car. After the head-on collision, the EuroNCAP assessed the safety of the driver and the passenger. They found that the knees and femurs of the driver and the passenger were well protected because of the strong passenger compartment. The EuroNCAP also conducted two more tests—side barrier test and the side pole test. In the side barrier test, it was found that the other body parts remained protected. But, in the side pole test, it was found that the protection to the chest was weak. But, seat and head restraints were strong enough to provide protection.

The facelifted version of Hyundai i20 also passed the child occupant protection test in which it scored 90%, which is quite high. It also provides protection to pedestrians. Facelifted version of Hyundai i20 was introduced to the car lovers in March. After it facelift, the new i20 has become more attractive and efficient. It has 1.1 liter three-cylinder U-II diesel engine that generates 75 HP. It has a new bumper, hexagonal grille and taillights. It is 1,710mm wide has 1,490mm height and 2,525mm wheelbase. Its length is 3,995mm.
