Hyundai Launches Automatic Elite i20 in India
Country’s leading car manufacturer Hyundai Motor India Limited has silently the automatic version of its hatchback in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 9.01 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The automatic transmission system has been introduced in Magna trim of hatchback and empowers the newly introduced 1368cc four cylinder VTVT petrol engine that boosts the power 99 bhp and torque of 132.5 Nm. The manual transmission system is energized with 1,197 cc four cylinder engine and boosts the power of 82 bhp and torque of 115Nm.
According to reports with an objective to keep the price of automatic transmission system compatible to other automatic hatchbacks existing in country, Korean car maker has missed out some features like automatic climate control, touch screen infotainment system, alloy wheels and parking camera. But, continues with some contemporary features like audio system with internal memory, dual airbags, and steering mounted controls. As far as looks of automatic version are concerned it continues to carry the same looks as offered in existing Elite i20.
Industry experts believe that Korean car maker had introduced the automatic version of Elite i20 hatchback in Indian car market after a long wait, especially after its strong contenders like Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Honda Jazz are offered with CVT gearbox system. It is believed that going through the increasing pressure of competition in segment company has launched Elite i20 quite early before its expected launch during the upcoming festive season. With introduction of automatic transmission system in Elite i20 Korean car maker speculates that this step will help in enhancing the dipping sales of Elite i20 to huge extent.
Interestingly along with automatic transmission system, the Indian alliance of car maker has also upgraded the top end variant Asta (O) of Elite i20 with side and curtain airbags and has offered with price tag of Rs. 7.75 lakh for petrol variant and Rs. 8,99,992 for diesel variant (both are ex-showroom prices, New Delhi).
