Hyundai to launch New Hyundai i20 in South Africa

The Korean carmaker Hyundai Motors will launch all-new Hyundai i20 by this August’2012 in South Africa. Here some formal information along with new images was made public by the company prior to its launch in UK. Apart from exterior upgrade, the large-sized hatchback also sees reworked interiors with many added features. With face-lifted Hyundai i20, comes new power train lineup too, that comprise of 1.2L and 1.4L petrol powered engines teamed with an efficient 1.1L diesel engine.

The front fascia of Hyundai i20 has got some resemblance to Hyundai Elantra sedan along with some similarities of Hyundai i30, which will go on sales by next month. The rear modifications are pretty less with restyled bumpers and new pair of tail lamps that looks more chic now, moreover the sides remain intact. Inside, there is new piano-black stuffing on the dash and more stylish appearing switchgear  together with features such as smart keyless entry, automatic climate control and reverse camera on inside rearview mirror, which is a segment first.

Hyundai’s new 1.1L U-II' Turbo Diesel motor, which is capable to produce 55Kw of max power and 180 Nm of peak toque, will be coupled to a unique idle-stop system that makes i20 the lowest emitting vehicle in the segment with mere 84g/km of CO2. On the other hand, for European market the powerful 1.4L diesel engine outpours a decent power of 66kW with 96g/km of CO2, while 1.2L 16V petrol engine churns 63kW of sheer power alongside 1.4L producing 74kW. As per the company the 1.4L petrol engine will reach 0-100 kph mark in mere 11.6 seconds and will take –in  only 5.2-litre per 100kms.
