Indian Army in Sikkim inducts Mitsubishi Pajero

The Indian Army has inducted the SUV Mitsubishi Pajero SUV for operations in in one of the frontier states, Sikkim. Since this move, the India Army was using Maruti Gypsy and Mahindra MM540/550, but the induction of Mitsubishi Pajero should surely make life easy for the soldiers and officers in Sikkim. This move has, however, come as a surprise, because of the high cost of the SUV. Mitsubishi Pajero costs over thrice as much as Mahindra MM540/550 Jeep, or Maruti Gypsy.

The Indian Army which faces great threat levels and works in all types of weather conditions, totally deserves this. The comfortable Mitsubishi Pajero is a very good addition for the Indian Army soldiers. The Indian state of Sikkim is not one of the best in places in terms of infrastructure, and it is frontier state touching the boundary of our neighbor China. Till now, the Indian government was neglecting this state's lacklustre infrastructure, but the recent earthquake in the state forced the government to lay some strategies.

The induction of Mitsubishi Pajero is being considered as one of the first steps towards betterment of infrastructure in Sikkim. The Mitsubishi Pajero, which has a cult status because of its off-road and on-road abilities, should fulfill Indian Army's need of capable and rugged vehicle in areas like Sikkim.

The Japanese SUV Mitsubishi Pajero is powered by a common-rail turbo diesel engine that produces 108Bhp peak power and 280Nm peak torque. It has a five speed transmission with all wheel drive system.
