Jaguar XF might be assembled in India soon!

Jaguar Land Rover is backed by Tata Motors in India. Now, JLR is all set to add one more strong and sporty model to its India portfolio, called Jaguar XF. There are chances that Jaguar XF might be assembled in India itself at the Chikali facility located in Pune. This year, Jaguar Land Rover assembled Land Rover Freelander 2 and this will be followed by the sporty and elegant sedan, Jaguar XF. Jaguar Land Rover received a very overwhelming response with the entry level Jaguar and it appears that we could see a massive increase in the margins and volumes by assembling the car locally in India.

Internationally, Jaguar is directly competing with big champions like Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz in terms of price. But, their cars’ price tags are a bit high as they bring their cars in India via CBU. JLR has maintained itself as a premium car brand here and the pricing factor is a major issue. Jaguar XF being assembled in India will cut down the massive price tag and bring it down substantially. However, Jaguar XF is expected to be a bit more costly than BMW 5 series and Audi A6. But hopefully this cost will be chopped down by the Indian assembling operations.

There is quite a hefty custom duty of about 110% on the CBU imports done in India, whereas the CKD kits have a custom duty of just 30%. However, there is no confirmation about the launch of Jaguar XF sedan in India so far, but rumors in the market suggest that this luxurious sedan will hit the Indian roads by the year of 2013. And depending on volume expansion, more and more Jaguar Land Rover car models might be assembled in India and will be launched with affordable price tags.
