Mahindra Genio launched in India
On Wednesday in Banglore, Mahindra & Mahindra introduced its two cabin pick up called ‘Mahindra Genio’ for the passengers who work in construction spaces and who need to travel with machinery and with their team.
Initially, a commercial vehicle with a single cabin was introduced by the company which had a space for a driver, a co-passenger and their cargo. The new commercial vehicle Mahindra & Mahindra ‘Genio’ will have two passenger rows and their cargo space.
As reported by a reliable source, Senior VP (Marketing (automotive division)), Mahindra & Mahindra stated, the retail and infrastructure industry is growing in India and so double cabin pick up is a sure thing for Indian Auto market. The double cabin pick up vehicles are very popular in Europe and Thailand. According to the company’s spokersman, Mahindra Genio will be an international class product.
The company is sure there would be no comparison with its Mahindra Bolero double cabin which is on similar lines. The base model of Mahindra Genio is priced at 5.46 lakh while the variant with more accessories is at Rs. 5.95 lakh. The difference in price of Mahindra Bolero and Mahindra Genio is around Rs. 38,000.
Mahindra & Mahindra is expanding in the pick up segment to hold its 75% market share in this segment from the competitors like Volkswagen and General Motors. In India, around 75,000 units are sold annually in the pick up segment.
The company reported a 51% year on year growth in exports in the month of June. Mahindra & Mahindra’s invested a sum of Rs. 225 crore at its Chakan plant for production of single and double cabin Genio and for the product development. The units which will be exported will be fitted with more powerful engine.
Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Toyota Etios Liva, Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Maruti Cervo and New Ford Fiesta.
