Mahindra To Reintroduce XUV500 After Launching XUV700

According to a recent update from the stable of domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra it will launch a new SUV named as XUV700 during the festive season this year. At present the proposed SUV has been codenamed as W601 and after launch it will be placed above the XUV500. It will be offered with two sitting options of six and seven seats. In a post the sources of Mahindra have confirmed that the company will discontinue the existing XUV 500 SUV after the launch of SUV700 and will re-launch the former as a new SUV. The new version of XUV500 will go against the likes of Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, and Tata Harrier. It will have five seats configuration.
 
 
In its new version the XUV500 is believed to undergo cosmetic updates so as to make it look different  from the upcoming XUV700. Mechanically it will be equipped with the same 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine that  will be offered in XUV700. However, there will be a change in the power and torque generation efficiencies. Moving ahead the XUV700 will be offered with an option of AWD system, the XUV500 will be equipped with the front-wheel-drive system.
 
It is believed that company might also offer the new 1.5-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine in the new XUV500. The same engine will also be offered in the next generation Marazzo MPV. This engine is reported to boost the power of 163 bhp and the torque of 250Nm.  Speaking about XUV700, after launch in the Indian car market it will compete against Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus. It will be developed on the new front-wheel-drive monocoque platform that will also be used for developing the new XUV500.
