Mahindra XUV 500 price hike from January 1st
Mahindra, the homegrown SUV maker has decided to increase the price of its recently launched Mahindra XUV 500. The hike will be effective from January 1, 2012. The Mahindra XUV 500 price will be increased by about Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 across the models. The decision of the price is said to have been taken in the light of two reasons- the current price was the introductory price and there has been an increase in the material costs as well there is an unexpected slash in the value of rupee recently.

When Mahindra launched Mahindra XUV 500 sometime ago amidst much hype and fanfare, it was believed that India has got its perfect SUV avatar and it would fulfill the wishes of the SUV enthusiasts in India and it did indeed. Due to its being blue blood among SUVs, Mahindra XUV 500 had received tremendous sales lately. If we see it model wise the Mahindra XUV 500 W6 variant will be dearer by Rs 30,000 while the Mahindra XUV 500 W8 and Mahindra XUV 500 W8 4X4 will be costlier by Rs 50,000 and Rs 55,000 respectively.

This price rise will be applicable to current bookings but the customers have to pay only the half of the increase in price. For example if one has booked Mahindra XUV 500 W8, he/she has to pay Rs 25,000 extra rather than Rs 50,000 which will be applicable for all booking after January 1. However, the bookings for Mahindra XUV 500 are closed already and are expected to reopen in January 2012.
In the meantime, the Mahindra XUV 500 has bagged many awards and has been acclaimed as the best SUV of the Year award besides the overwhelming response from its buyers.
