Mahindra Verito EV coming next year!
It seems that Mahindra & Mahindra has finally decided to have a big stake in passenger car segment. Yesterday, the Indian auto giant has dived into the hatchback car segment too with launch of Mahindra Verito Vibe. Already, it is selling the compact sedan, Verito which is doing very well. And now, it has indicated about the launch of electric version of the Verito sedan by next year. The new Mahindra Verito EV has already been displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi.
At this time of sky-rocketing fuel prices, M&M seeks to lure the electric vehicle lovers in various segments. To win the heart of small electric car lovers, it has already introduced the Mahindra E20. Meanwhile, the Verito EV will be a compact sedan with too much space and innovative comfortable features. It would come packed with a 72V Lithium-ion battery that could be charged within 6 hours. It will have a 29KW AC motor along with a single-speed transmission. The top speed of the vehicle will be about 86km/h and with a full charge it would be capable to cover a distance of 100km.

On the other hand, yesterday launched Verito Vibe has been offered with only diesel engine option which has a K9K 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine under the cap. There are three variants available like D2, D4 and D6 priced at Rs 5.63 lakh, 5.89 lakh and 6.49 lakh respectively. Equipped with advanced safety, comfort and entertainment features like Driver airbag, ABS, alloy wheels, audio system with USB, rear defogger and electric mirrors, the new Mahindra hatchback car has direct competition with Maruti Swift, Chevrolet Sail U-VA, Toyota Etios Liva, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Figo.
