Mahindra & Mahindra, the Winners for monsoon challenge 2011
Apollo tyres India's leading tyre manufacturer partnered with M&M (Mahindra & Mahindra) rallied in one of the biggest and the most rewarding TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) on the Indian off-roading scene.
This rally took place in the peak monsoon season in the western part of India where it has been raining continuously for the past few days. The participants took the challenge by driving through the murky and swampy forests, challenging terrains to test their navigation and driving skills
The drive began on 22nd July from Nasik, Maharashtra with more than 50 participants. This rally covered 1,500 Km. halting at Aurangabad and Kolhapur and concluded on the beaches of Goa on July 24th. The wining team of Nirav Mehta and Somdev Chandra riding on Mahindra Stinger took home a cash price of Rs.800, 000.
The Apollo tyres introduced two award categories - The" Apollo Safe Drive Award", won by Umesh Rane from Mumbai driving a Mahindra Thar, The "Apollo Woman Drive Award" was won by Ms.Sampada Rangnekar with her son from Mumbai.
Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Toyota Etios Liva, Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Force One, Maruti Cervo and Honda Brio.
