Maruti Celerio capable to bring revolution in automatic car segment in India
The recently launched hatchback Celerio from country’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India Limited has potential to bring a new revolution in the automatic segment of cars in Indian car market. According to industry experts the overall market of automatic cars in India will rise up-to 20% to 30% in next six to seven years. By introducing Celerio in Indian car market MSIL has succeeded in bringing down the cost of automatic cars up-to 1 lakh to 2 lakh. Moreover by offering new Celerio at an affordable price Maruti has given new definition of automated manual transmission technology which apart from reducing the price of vehicle also offers fuel efficient performance as offered by vehicle equipped with manual transmission system.
Going through stop go traffic conditions in concern offering an automated vehicle at an affordable price will generate strict competition in market. It would be interested to know that country’s another auto manufacturing company Tata Motors has already taken a step ahead in this direction as in the recently concluded Indian Auto Expo 2014 it has unveiled Bolt and Zest based automated manual transmission technology and soon will implement the same technology on its all upcoming cars including its existing micro car Nano. Following the same trend Mahindra and Mahindra has also developed its compact SUV Quanto based on AMT version.
In the words of Mr. Mayak Pareek, COO, Marketing and Sales, MSIL, the decade of 90’s was recognizes for introduction of powerful air conditioners in car, while year 2000 was recognized for introduction of power steering technology, in the same this decade will be remembered for advancement of automatic transmission technology. According to Mr. Pareek the automatic segment of cars in Indian car market could developed accordingly due to three reasons, first due to huge price difference between automatic and manual cars, low fuel efficient performance by automatic cars and finally the high maintenance cost of automatic vehicles. He also added that the main objective of company is to offer vehicles blessed with latest technology at an affordable price.
