Maruti Celerio to be enriched with diesel engine
In recent times it has been rumored that Japanese auto giant Suzuki is working on introducing a diesel engine for its products equipped with 800 cc engine. Now it has been confirmed by MSIL official that the first vehicle to be energized with 0.8 litre diesel engine would a LCV which at present has been codenamed as Y9T and that will be launched sometimes in the middle of January next year. Moving ahead the official also confirmed that this Y0T would not be other than company’s recent launch product Celerio.
Moving ahead the sources of company said that introduction of 800 cc diesel engine in Celerio will be the beginning of company’s entrance in segment of this specific diesel engine configuration. After Celerio it will be Eeco passenger which will also be equipped with same engine configuration. At present Eeco is being offered in only petrol and CNG variants. Moreover due to availability of Eeco CNG in only 15 states has proved to be curse for company as this has benefited to its contenders like Ace Magic from Tata and Maxximo from Mahindra.
Introduction of diesel Eeco will not boost the sales of company but will also explore new markets for company especially for being used as means of transport by call centers where at present its contenders dominate the area.
