Maruti plans to hire new permanent workers at Manesar plant
The latest news is that Maruti Suzuki is now planning to hire new permanent workers, to replace the present ones. On 29 August, the workers of Maruti Suzuki, at its Manesar plant went on strike, when they were asked to sign Good Conduct Bond by the management of the automobile company. The company has refused to compromise on any condition.
It has been over two weeks now, but there has been no end to the strike. Maruti Suzuki has been supported by Haryana Labour Authority and Suzuki Motor Corp for the same, and this has made the company to take the decision of recruiting new workers. The management has asked the workers to sign the Good Conduct Bond, by Monday, or else they will start recruiting from the next day. The new workers will be on permanent basis, and they will replace the current workers.
Earlier, due to the strike, dealers stopped booking of Maruti Suzuki's highest selling car Maruti Swift, because the production of the car stopped for the same reason. Recently, Maruti Suzuki launched the all new Swift with changed looks and updated technology, and the number of bookings stormed upto 90,000 units. But when the workers at Manesar plant went on a strike, the company couldn't catch up with the production of the car. So, the dealers stopped bookings of the car, as according to them, it will take as much as 6-8 months for the cars to be delivered to the people who have booked it till now.
