Maruti Suzuki aims at doubling Sales Network
India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has announced plans of doubling its sales network by the year 2015 across the country, and with major focus on the smaller towns and cities. Maruti Suzuki India celebrated the opening of 1,000th showroom of the company in Surat, Gujarat. This was a step taken in hope of expanding into tier-II and tier-III cities in the country.
Shinzo Nakanishi, CEO and Managing Director of Maruti Suzuki India said that expansion of network is a part of company's strategy of our business and the company would continue to do it. He also stated that the company plans to double the sales network in the next five years, in accordance with company's sales plan.
Besides this plan of increasing car sales showrooms, Maruti Suzuki India is also undertaking upgradation of its more than three year old car showrooms, under the project 'Nav Nirman'. According to the company, Nav Nirman's objective is to provide its product buyers with an experience of uniform buying.
In the meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki produced 690 units of its highest selling car Maruti Swift, yesterday. However, it is still facing worker strike at the Manesar plant. The company also manufactured 60 units of cars Maruti SX4 and Maruti A-Star. Presently, 1,500 workers are working at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant. Of this, 1,120 are experienced and trained workers who were hired by the company after the labour unrest. According to a statement issued by the automobile company, it has started production of Maruti SX4 and Maruti A-Star, in addition to Maruti Swift. The focus of the company, however, still remains at taking Maruti Swift's production level back to normal.
