Maruti Suzuki Omni Will Stay Alive In Memories Forever

Separation is always painful, but as it is the part of our life we have to face it. But at the same time separation leaves lots of memories which brings a smile at our face whenever we go back. Maruti Suzuki Omni the best ever selling multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in the history of Indian car market by the country’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India Limited will not be seen more on the roads from now anymore. According to the recent industry reports, going through the implementation of the new safety norms from April 2019, which will not be possible for the Omni comply with them, due to which the Indo-Japanese car maker has to phase out it from its portfolio.

The phasing out of the Omni from the fleet of MSIL’s family is the end of an era for the fans of Omni who had lots of memories associated with it. For some, it was the first every vehicle purchased by them for their family, whereas for some it served as the source of earning. It would be interesting to know that Omni was not only loved by the car lovers but even it attracted the filmmakers towards its performance. It sounds funny, but in most of the action movies, it was used by the hero and his team for reaching at the den of the villain. The reason due to which the MSIL had to phase out the Omni is the absence of airbag and anti-brake locking system (ABS), as the standard feature along with speed warning alert, seatbelt reminders and reverse parking sensors, which are to be offered in the upcoming vehicles from April 2019 onwards.

Talking about the 35 years successful journey, the Omni kept on performing consistently well throughout its existence and succeeded to achieve the milestone of 20 lakh units sold during its lifetime. An interesting fact about Omni is that despite of hike in the fuel prices at regular intervals, and the entrance of new cars in the market, it never received any kind of threat from its contenders in terms of fuel efficiency. In the urban areas it offered the fuel-efficient performance of 17 kmpl while on the highways the average went as high as 21 kmpl.

Under the hood, it was empowered with 796cc petrol engine and mated with the manual gear transmission system. Although the MPV did not have a power steering, or power windows, or automatic transmission system, but still, it's not less a family member for almost 20 lakh owners.
