Maruti-Suzuki Confirms The Launch Of BS 6 S-Cross

During the Indian Auto Expo 2020, the leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited had confirmed that despite being the best selling car, it's first-ever cross-over S-Cross will be the part of its portfolio. The new BS6 compliant S-Cross was expected to make its debut in March this year but going through the lockdown in the entire nation its launch was postponed like various other launch events. Now according to recent reports, the Indo-Japanese carmaker has confirmed to launch the upgraded version of cross-over once the situation turns normal.

The first generation of S-Cross was empowered with a 1.3-liter Multijet diesel engine outsourced from Italian carmaker Fiat and there was no news regarding its availability in the petrol version. Commenting on this Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales- Maruti Suzuki India said, "While in hatchbacks and sedans the diesel percentage has come down dramatically, even in SUVs it is coming down. Even the price difference between petrol and diesel has narrowed. So Yes! I see petrol S-Cross and a good option." The new S-Cross will be now offered with a 1.5-liter, mild-hybrid petrol engine, outsourced from Ciaz. The four-cylinder SHVS BS-VI petrol engine boosts the power of 112 bhp and the torque of 134Nm and mated with a five-speed manual gear transmission system along with an option of four-speed torque convertor unit.

The other features besides, the new upgraded engine that would be offered in the new S-Cross will include a seven-inch Smartplay Studio 2.0 system, Smart-key push-button start, automatic climate control, electronic ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, and a few more.
