Maruti Suzuki working on 800cc diesel engine for Celerio
The launch of Celerio AMT has enjoyed overwhelming response in Indian car market. The success of Celerio can be witnessed from the fact that customers who could not afford to buy AMT version of Celerio have started for the diesel variant of Celerio for Indian car market. Inspired from this Indian arm of Japanese car maker has decided to bring Celerio diesel version soon in Indian car market. It is reported that company is developing a 800cc diesel engine which would be offered in Celerio diesel.
According to sources of company it is planning to bring the diesel version of Celerio equipped with 800cc engine during this financial year. The engine will be developed jointly by company’s Light Commercial Vehicle and Celerio. The engine will be developed at company’s main production unit located at Gurgaon and is speculated to deliver the fuel efficient performance of 30 kmpl. As far as the price of Maruti Celeri Diesel are concerned nothing has been so far revealed by the company sources and are expected to be disclosed at the time of its launch.
Talking about any physical changes that will be offered in diesel variant of Celerio are concerned it is sure that it will not receive an AMT system. Apart from this it will be enriched with diesel mill without any other changes in looks and design. One thing which would be of great interest for Celerio enthusiasts is the pricing of diesel variant because there is regular hike in price of diesel and high price could impact the demand of diesel Celerio.
