Mercedes Benz A Class launch in India scheduled for May 30

Mercedes Benz India, which has recently achieved the position of number two luxury carmaker in the domestic market, is ready to throw its cheapest car model Mercedes Benz A Class very soon. The new A Class sports hatchback will take position as a younger sister of last year launched B Class luxury hatchback. The company will start the display of new entry level luxury hatchback from 4th May 2013 at existing Mercedes dealers, while the official launch of the A Class has been scheduled for 30th May.

Recently, the German carmaker has shared a photo of the sports luxury hatchback with its followers on Facebook and Twitter. But, the company has nothing disclosed about the price, but all the variants of new beast would be offered under Rs 20 Lakh in Indian auto market. In terms of price, features and specs, the new hatchback by Mercedes Benz will give stiff competition to upcoming BMW 1 Series.

It is reported that this hatchback will be available as CBU Unit (completely built Unit) but, after some time it would be produced at Chakan facility (Pune) based facility of the company. The new Mercedes Benz A Class will be made available in both options like petrol and diesel. Its gasoline model will have a 1.6L petrol engine under the hood while the diesel model will be empowered with a 1.8L turbo diesel power train. Both these power trains are mated to a fuel efficient and hassle free 7 speed dual clutch automatic transmission system.
