Mercedes Benz to open driving academy in India next year
Mercedes Benz India, the second largest luxury car maker in the country, took a major step to promote the motorsport in the Indian auto market on Wednesday. The company will be setting-up a driving academy Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida, with Indian Formula One Grand Prix organizers, Jaypee Sports International (JPSI). The Mercedes Benz’s first ever driving circuit will come-up in India by next year.
The German auto giant already has three driving academies including one each in United States, China and Germany. The F1 race is scheduled to start in the country from Oct 28 to 30 at the circuit of 5.14 kms in Greater Noida. The academy will be commenced from January 2011, and a concrete plant for this facility will be created following the October’s F1 race. As per the company, details of the project will be ready by the month of November this year.
In the starting, the Mercedes Benz driving academy will be starting with two programs including economical and basic programs. These programs will be focused on driving of sports cars and the firm will be certifying the participants after completion of the course.
Mercedes is currently one of the most popular luxury car brands in the Indian market that sells a range of luxury cars in the country including the likes of Mercedes Benz E Class, Mercedes Benz S Class, Mercedes Benz M Class.
