MG Commences Its Innings By Launching Hector, Priced Rs.12.18 Lakh

British car maker MG Motors has finally commenced its inning in the Indian car market by launching its entry level vehicle Hector SUV with the starting price of Rs. 12.18 lakh for the base variant. The top end variant has been priced Rs. 16.88 lakh, both the prices are ex-showroom price. The SUV is introduced in the four trims namely Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. At present the company is operating its activities across 120 centres located at the different centers across the country and the number is believed to go high up-to 250 by September this year.

According to the sources the prices offered currently are introductory prices and will be applicable on all more than 10000 buyers who have booked the SUV so far. It would be interesting to know that with an objective to lure the buyers, the company has also initiated the after-sales support system, wherein the owners of MG Hector can sale their vehicle after 3 years of drive and get up to 60% value of the SUV. The Hector SUV is the first vehicle in the segment that is embellished with Machine-to-Machine (M2M) sim studded in it. After Venue from Hyundai it is the second connected vehicle in India.
 
Under the hood it is offered with three engine options. The diesel variant is energized with 2.0 litre engine outsourced from Fiat. This engine is capable of boosting the power of 168 bhp and the torque of 350Nm with transmission duties performed by six-speed manual transmission system.  The petrol variant is offered with 1.5 litre engine, four cylinder turbo engine that generates the power of 141 bhp and the torque of 250Nm and mated with six-speed manual transmission system. Along with both these normal engines, the company is also offering the option of 48 Volt mild-hybrid engine system mated with 1.5 litre petrol engine, again mated with the six-speed dual-clutch transmission system. The 48 Volt lithium battery that generates extra torque of 20Nm. The hybrid version is offered with three key functions including Engine Auto Start-Stop, Regenerative Braking and E-Boost. It is reported that after assessing the performance of this five-seater SUV, the British car maker will launch its seven-seater version during the next year.

Well, speaking about the looks and features offered in MG Hector, it would not be wrong to say that it has an efficiency of fascinating the buyers at first instance. The front fascia receives black garnished grille surrounded with sleek chrome garnish. The front bumper receives headlamps with DRLs mounted close to it. On the interior front it receives the black color treatment with soft-touch leather upholstery. The dashboard and the central console are adjusted within the minimum space due to extended touchscreen infotainment system that has a bunch of buttons for various functions. With a spacious cabin due to long wheelbase, the Hector offers comfort and relaxing travelling experience to the passengers.
