MSIL to enhance the production of Celerio to overcome the waiting period
After receiving the overwhelming response by customers in Indian car market for its recently launched hatchback Celerio, country’s major car producing company MSIL has decided to enhance its production to 10,000 units per month, from its existing production capacity of 5,000 units. This decision has been taken to meet the increasing demand of Celerio with each passing day. According to sources of company Celerio has recorded more than 30,000 bookings so far, due to which the waiting period of manual transmission system is crossing the time limit of three months whereas for automatic version waiting period is going above six months.
After discontinuation of its two hatchbacks Zen Estilo and A-Star the company has production capacity of producing more than 17,000 cars per month and this efficiency can be consumed for the production of additional units of Celerio. Company sources reveal that company has asked its dealers that would it be appropriate to increase the production so as to meet the demand of Celerio in market. The new Celerio is empowered with 1.0 litre K10 engine churning the power of 67 bhp and torque of 90 Nm.
According to industry experts the promotional strategy adopted by company for introduction of AMT gearbox has played an important role in increasing the interest of customers towards the Celerio. According to sales statistics out of 20,000 Celerio’s sold so far 52% of units counts for automatic gearbox. The price of base variant of Celerio for manual versions starts with Rs. 3.78 lakh (ex-showroom price) while the price of automatic version starts with Rs. 4.14 lakh.
