New Audi R8 for 2012, the Succeeding Generation to arrive in 2014

The German premium luxury car manufacturer, Audi has introduced the fresh avatar of Audi R8 supercar that will upgrade in late 2012. And the succeeding generation of this supercar will arrive in 2014, as per the report issued by a leading car magazine. If the words to be believed then, company will launch the limited edition of the electric RSe version in late 2012, supposed to follow the plug-in hybrid architecture pattern.

For this tech-greedy generation company has made plenty of mechanical revise including assimilation of advanced software and other technical sophistications. The new 2012 variant of Audi R8 will be graced with latest Audi’s MMI (Multi Media Interface) infotainment system that solves various purposes including 3D based graphic display, 3D map navigation, speech control, media, phone facility, radio, satellite radio and sound system.

The six speed single-clutch automated transmission will be replaced by the seven speed dual-clutch transmission that boosted the engine power. It will be designed on new Porsche-designed architecture named Modular Rear-Wheel, Mid Engine (MSB-M). The succeeding generation of Audi R8 will be the sleeker, sophisticated and highly-efficient than its 2012 version.

The excellent designing work will clearly reflect in its image. The lots of carbon fibre work in its construction will make it 220 pounds lighter and 13% stiffer while, the 2012 variant will have aluminium structure. Though, it will come with dual-clutch unit but will be lacking with a manual transmission.

Its base engine 4.2 litre V-8 will be more efficient with 450hp power production whereas, the V-10 will churn maximum power of 550hp. In order to give stiff competition to new Bentley Continental GT, Audi will substitute the V-10 power engine with turbocharged 4.0 litre V-8 engine.
