New Chevrolet cars ready to hit Indian roads

General Motors (GM), the parental unit of Chevrolet Cars is going to launch bunch of cars from this March. Most of these cars have been charted at GM’s Bangalore based unit.

Mr Lowell C. Paddock, President and Managing Director, GM stated that the new Tavera model was also designed at the Bangalore design centre. In addition, he also enrolled the new design centre interlinked that has the capacity to assemble full-size clay models, fabrication and painting to assist the local and the global programme necessities. This Design and Research & Development (R&D) centre has got 2100 employees in total.

Speculations are that the new Tavera is going to be brought in by mid of March, while Chevrolet Sail is expected to be launched in July. It is anticipated that Chevrolet Sail would be available in both petrol as well as diesel variants. Chevy Sail petrol might come incorporated with a 1.2 liter engine, while, the diesel variant of this car is subjected to be powered by a 1.3 liter engine. Expectations are that the Sail is going be available in both hatchback and notchback models and both these models will have petrol and diesel engines as in-line options. In addition, GM is also looking forward to bring an MUV in the domestic market by this year end.

Mr Paddock also confirmed that they have also developed an electric car for the domestic auto market, but to launch it, they are waiting for the government to ease the norms for Electric Vehicles. He added that the government should introduce an auto fuel policy rather than projecting short term plans. He also added that the government should emphasize to curtail down the auto finance rates as around 80 percent of the passenger cars in India are financed.

Recently, GM unveiled Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 which has got more alluring dynamics and better performance than its predecessors. With a long line up yet to come from GM, it can be predicted that GM is going to snatch a larger share of other leading auto brands like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors.
