New Land Rover Discovery 4 models to launch this year
The Land Rover branch owned by Tata Motors revealed on Thursday that they plan to introduce new versions of their two SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) models, the Discovery 4 and the Range Rover Sports in United Kingdom by October this year. The starting price of the SUV's is expected to be around 37,995 pounds or INR 27 Lakhs.
Land Rover said that both the 2012 year models of Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport carry 3.0 Litre engines with 8 speed automatic transmission. They also said that the Discovery 4's price will start from 37,995 pounds while the Range Rover Sport will be available at a price of 48,795 pounds. Managing Director of Land Rover UK, Colin Green said that the Discovery 4 is the most capable and versatile SUV both on the road and off the road, due to its excellent design and equipments, pumped up performance and lower CO2 emissions. The new engines will allow the cars to emit 230 grams of CO2 every km as compared to 244 grams of CO2 per km in the earlier version.
Speaking about the Range Rover Sport he said that the additional features installed in the car's newest version will help it to retain its position as the most economical high performance Sports Utility Vehicle in the market.
Earlier, the British owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) revealed that they have started the production of much awaited Range Rover Evoque at the Halewood plant of Land Rover in UK and that the company has already received 18,000 bookings for the SUV all around the globe. About 75% of the Range Rover Evoque produced will be exported to 170 countries and the company has doubled its workers to 3000 to speed up the production process.
Jaguar Land Rover plan to roll out 40 new models in the next five years and Range Rover Evoque is just one amongst these. The company plans to invest 1.5 billion annually in the product creation program to develop new engines, car models, and vehicle lines. Presently, the company has employee strength of 19000 workers in UK. Through its associate business operations, dealer networks and supply chains it supports 1.24 lakh people all around the world.
