New Maruti Swift coming up
Country’s largest car makers, Maruti Suzuki is releasing the new Maruti Swift in August as the company is all set to compete with New Toyota Liva and Honda’s yet to be launched Honda Brio hatchback.
The new Swift has already been launched overseas and coming to India after almost a year and will be priced around Rs. 10,000 more than its existing cost of Rs 4.09 lakh (Petrol variant, ex-showroom, Delhi).
The premium category of the compact car segment accounts for nearly 60% of car sales in the country and since its launch in 2005, Maruti Swift has been a best selling model for the segment.
According to an Industrial source, as stated by Chief GM(Sales & Marketing), Maruti Suzuki, The company wanted to hold on to its over 50% share in the segment as premium category of the compact car segment is the biggest segment of the Indian Auto market and so competition was getting stiffer. Though, Maruti has hold on the segment with its models like Maruti Ritz, Maruti Swift, Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Alto but other competitors in the segment are Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet Beat, Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20 and now Toyota Liva.
Maruti Suzuki is planning to revamp new Maruti Swift with changed interior and exteriors while maintaining the car’s over all impression. Company is trying to give sporty look to the car.
The upgraded model will be wider and slightly longer than the existing Maruti Swift and will be adding to the legroom with a 40 mm longer wheelbase.
Though the New Maruti Swift will be having same engine capacity as the existing Maruti Swift of 1200cc petrol and 1300cc diesel, the engineers has made changes to technology on the petrol engine to make it more fuel efficient and more powerful.
The New Maruti Swift will be launched by August 17 of this year and the dealers have already started accepting bookings for the same.
