New Mercedes Benz CLS 350 launched in India at Rs 67.67 lakh
Mercedes Benz India, a subsidiary of the Germany based leading luxury car maker, launched the all new CLS 350 model in the Indian market on Thursday. The car carries a price tag of Rs 67.67 lakh (ex- showroom Mumbai). The company has said that it will add two more models in its India portfolio very soon.
In a statement given to reporters on Thursday, Mr. Debashis Mitra, Mercedes-Benz India Director (Sales and Marketing) said that the new age CLS 350 sports coupe is a perfect expression for the young aggressive India. He added that the company plans to launch two more vehicles in the Indian auto market in the upcoming festive season in October. He, however, not revealed the further details of these upcoming car launches.

The car is powered by a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine that is coupled with a new age 7G-Tronic gearbox. The 3498cc engine is capable of delivering a peak power of 306bhp at 6500 rpm. It is the first car that is blessed with full LED headlamps. The major attractions of the car include Mercedes' voice operated control system (COMMAND APS with LINGUATRONIC), and automatic climate control (THERMOTRONIC).

In January to August 2011 period, Mercedes Benz India managed to sell a total of 4,890 units of its cars in the Indian market as compared to 3,495 units sold in the same period last year, accounting for a sales surge of 40 percent.
The company is currently at the second spot in the Indian market following BMW at the top position. Mercedes Benz plans to regain the crown of top car maker in the country from BMW by year 2015, with the help of a series of new car launches (10 new car models) by that time.
