New Renault Fluence diesel to have more powerful engine

In a bid to further strengthen its product line-up in the Indian market, the French car maker Renault is planning to launch a new variant of its premium sedan Fluence with a better performing diesel engine. Though all new 2012 Renault Fluence will be carrying the same 1.5L diesel engine at its heart, but the peak power would be increased by 5 bhp to 110 bhp from the 105 bhp of the existing engine of the car. However, the maximum torque will be retained at 240 Nm, same as before.

In the global market, the 1.5L diesel engine of Renault is available in five different engine power versions including 85 Bhp, 90 Bhp, 105 Bhp and 110 Bhp. However in India, the Fluence has been offered with only 105 bhp version. Now, by planning to launch a 110 bhp version for the Indian market, the company now has shown that it don’t want to leave any stone unturned in giving best performing engine variants to the Indian buyers. The six speed manual transmission gearbox will also be retained same as before.

Besides a more powerful engine, the 2012 Renault Fluence diesel is expected to be carrying a number of cosmetic changes at the interior front, so that it can be bought at par with the fully loaded petrol variant. The decision of upgrading the diesel variant of Fluence is expected to be taken as there has been a considerable rise in the demand for diesel version of the car, after a number of hikes in the price of petrol in the Indian market.

Some unconfirmed media reports also claim that the company is likely to showcase this new 2012 Renault Fluence diesel at the upcoming Delhi International Auto Expo in the month of January 2012, so that the new Fluence diesel can receive an strong opening in the Indian market.
