New Toyota Camry launched in Malaysia

Toyota Motor has launched the All-New Toyota Camry and All-New Toyota 86 in Kuching, Malaysia. Where it has been almost 18 years and a series of facelift enroute for Camry to get the first major makeover. During this time the Camry has bagged title of being the best car in the world as well as the best luxury car by Toyota. The Malaysian ally of the Japanese car maker UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd has reportedly said at the launch day that Camry has been the most successful vehicle in Malaysia and they have sold over 96 k units since its launch in the country.

In Malaysia, the new Toyota Camry is available in three variants. The top end model is Camry 2.5 V while the other models are 2.0 G, 2.0 E. The new Camry top model is powered by a 2.5 litre engine with a six speed automatic gearbox while the 2.0 G, 2.0 E have 2 L engine with sequential shift automatic transmission. The new Toyota Camry price in Malaysia starts at RM151, 521.90 while the top model is priced at RM182, 075.80. Another launch that took place in Malaysia is the All-New Toyota 86 which is a 2 door coupe that was launched in 2011. This is a sports car developed by Toyota in collaboration with another Japanese car maker Subaru.

Back in India, the Toyota Camry price is Rs 21.58 lakh and has a competition with Hyundai Sonata, Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda Laura, Honda Accord and Nissan Teana besides others in the luxury car segment in the country. Being offered in only petrol model is a big question mark on the Camry as the petrol prices have crossed the Rs 70 per litre mark. Though petrol or diesel seldom make a difference at this price segment still option in diesel is always desirable. Camry’s prospects against the other competitors are high except Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata that are another best selling luxury cars in India.
