A new 2.5 L VVT petrol engine is expected to power the new Camry and thus the new car will have a power of 178 bhp along with a peak torque of 233 Nm at very low rpms. This power output is more than the existing Camry. Along with the under the hood department changes the new Camry will also have a 6 speed gearbox with the manual and automatic options. The power addition as well as the presence of the six speed transmission with the availability of automatic variant as well will establish the car in the segment against the Superb, Accord and Sonata pretty well.

Since the car will be assembled at the Bidadi plant, the new Camry price is expected to be lower than the present model. In addition to it, despite of being based on the outgoing Camry, the new Toyota car is said to have over 90 percent of its features and specifications that have received a facelift. Besides, the local assembling of the new Camry is expected to bring the price and thus will make it more attractively priced than the arch rivals Skoda Superb and Honda Accord. However, presence of only petrol variant will be desisting some of the buyers. But experts believe that diesel or petrol lose their significance in this price segment. It is luxury and safety is what matters.
